The Mayor and Town Council are actively working on moving forward with the necessary repairs to restore restroom access as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the woman’s facility is still open and available for use. We kindly ask for your cooperation in helping us keep our public spaces clean and cared for.

STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO BEGIN A BRIDGE DECK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ON
MD 42 IN GARRETT COUNTY

Bridge to Close with Detours in Friendsville over the Youghiogheny River

(April 10, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a bridge deck overlay and rehabilitation project on the MD 42 (Friendsville Road) bridge over the Youghiogheny River in Friendsville, starting April 15. The $5.6 million project is expected to be completed by August, weather permitting.

The work will require a closure of the bridge, and traffic will be detoured through Friendsville. The detour route will be using Maple Street to First Avenue to MD 42. Drivers should allow extra travel time while work is underway.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Triton Construction, Inc. of St. Albans, WV., will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to guide motorists through the work zone, road closure and detour.

The Town of Friendsville held its general election on February 11, 2025, to elect town officials. We extend our gratitude to all residents who participated in this vital civic process. A total of 81 voters cast their ballots, demonstrating their commitment to shaping the future of our community.
