Garrett County Burn Ban Lifted

Following a review of weather and ground conditions, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has rescinded a statewide ban on open-air burning on November 21, 2024. This ban was implemented to prevent the spread of wildfires across the state.

Garrett County has also lifted the local ban but reminds residents that a burn permit is still required for all open burning, except for small recreational fires such as campfires, for outdoor cooking of food and fires associated with agricultural practice.

More information from the Garrett County Health Department can be found here: https://garretthealth.org/burn-permits/

Please don’t blow or swept your grass clippings or leaves in the street!

When anything but rain goes down the storm drain, it can become a drainage problem.  Improper disposal of yard waste, including leaves and grass clippings cause a drainage problems.  Please do not blow or swept grass clippings in the streets.  We appreciate your cooperation.                          Mayor & Town Council

Friendsville Spring Clean Up

“Open to All Residents”

The Week of April 29 – May 4, 2024

We are proud that our community is known as
“the friendliest little town in Maryland”, and now we the residents and officials
in our town join together to make it the cleanest little town in Maryland as well!

Let’s Demonstrate Our Civic Pride!
Cut weeds, mow lawns, and rake leaves around your property.  Clean up those vacant lots too!
Dispose of worn-out furniture, broken appliances, and useless old items.

(Sorry!  We will not be able to accept old tires or construction debris…)

Our entire town can and should be made as clean and orderly as its cleanest home…then we will have a safer, happier, healthier town.  To have a town clean and beautiful should be the ambition of every one of its citizens.

Pick up of large items will be on
Saturday, May 4, 2024 beginning at 8:00 a.m.

We ask of our town residents’….to separate furniture, appliances and scrap metal for Saturday’s pick-up.

This will help our trash collector in their efforts to remove it quickly.

(We will pick up no more than ten (10) bags of garbage per household.)
